Hey! So Glad You're Here.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog! My name is Adrienne! I am 30 years old and a Kindergarten teacher at Orion Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio! Unlike most people, I did not jump into teaching right after college. It was extremely difficult for me to find a teaching job. (it's not as easy as everyone else makes it look). I have a huge passion for gymnastics since I was gymnast myself for 9 years! So instead of teaching right away, I was actually a gymnastics coach for a few years and absolutely loved it! After 3 years and no insurance later, the search for a teaching position BEGAN! I was a substitute for a while, then found a long-term substitute position before landing my first official position as a 2nd grade teacher! But there was a catch; it was in INDIANAPOLIS. I had to jump out of my comfort zone and move to a city where I knew NO ONE to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. It was tough but I wouldn't have changed it for the world! I am now back in Cincinnati and have taught 2nd grade, 1st grade, and Kindergarten. I must say that Kindergarten has been my FAVORITE! Remember, Your teaching journey may not be like everyone else's and THAT IS OKAY! Trust in your future and your own unique path!

As a Caucasian woman who has always taught in predominately African American schools, establishing deep connections with students and parents can at times be difficult. Never the less, establishing these relationships and connections is EXTREMELY important. Some of my top priorities are making sure the parents and families of my students know that we are on the same team, and also letting them know I will always be there for their child BOTH inside & outside the classroom, to make sure they reach their full potential.

I am also a proud Mama to a 9 month old baby girl named Jayde. She is such a happy baby! (but don't let that cute smile fool you, she was cranky until she was about 6 months old. LOL!) And that handsome man is her Daddy! JaVan and I have been together for almost 7 years! Last year we got pregnant with Jayde, bought a house, and I started a new job ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Not sure why we decided to do all of that at once but WE did it!! Never underestimate yourself. :)

Life is never as perfect as people paint it out to be. ESPECIALLY on the internet. It is okay if you are struggling , or don't have it all together. I don't either. Us mama's and educators need to stick together! We need to be able to lean on each other for advice and support. Not only for teaching but life in general!
Please do not hesitate to contact me for ANYTHING! I am here to help! :)
